Counseling center owners sentenced in fraud case

The owners of a suburban Chicago youth counseling center have been sentenced to federal prison terms for bilking Illinois Medicaid out of approximately $2.5 million through a fraudulent billing scheme.

From 2011 to 2018, Summer Matheson and Terrence Ewing, co-managers of Laynie Foundation Inc., along with another foundation employee, fraudulently billed Illinois Medicaid for more mental health counseling services than the foundation actually provided.

Baby dies, mom charged

A baby who was found Monday unresponsive and not breathing died as a result of severe hyperthermia and dehydration.

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said it most likely was the result of being in a closed vehicle for a long period. Police report a relative took the baby out of the car and placed the child on the lawn where police found him.

The baby’s mother remains in the Peoria County Jail on a single count of endangering the life and health of a child.

Michael Jordan’s house may finally have a buyer. The Highland Park estate is under a new contract.

The mansion was first listed for sale in 2012 for $29 million. The price was reduced to $14.8 million in 2015.

The 56,000 square foot property has nine bedrooms and 19 bathrooms, a regulation-sized basketball gymnasium, and a circular infinity pool. The final sale price has not been revealed.
