Winter storm leads thousands without power
Many Illinoisans are digging out from a weekend winter storm. Thousands remain without power in southern Illinois after the storm produced ice in many areas.
As of Monday morning, over 10,000 people were without power in Williamson County alone. Snow and ice played part in a chain-reaction crash on Interstate 70 near the town of Casey Sunday afternoon. According to Illinois State Police, the crash involved at least 40 vehicles and closed I-70 for several hours.
Washington County issued a “shelter-in-place” order Monday morning due to what officials called life-threatening weather conditions.
