(The Center Square) – The Caddo Democratic Parish Executive Committee has endorsed Caddo Parish Commissioner Stormy Gage-Watts for Shreveport mayor, putting the local Democratic organization behind one candidate in the seven-person race.
The committee endorsed candidates in races for Shreveport mayor and City Council, Caddo Parish School Board, district attorney, judgeships and the Public Service Commission ahead of the Nov. 3 election. Early voting is Oct. 20-27, excluding Sunday, Oct. 25.
Gage-Watts, a Democrat who represents District 7 on the Caddo Parish Commission, is running against Republican Mayor Tom Arceneaux, state Rep. Tammy Phelps, Caddo Parish Commissioner John-Paul Young, former Commissioner Michael Williams, Chaunta Mero and Sia Ravari.
The endorsement contrasts with the Republican Party of Louisiana’s 2026 endorsement list, which does not include an endorsement in the Shreveport mayor’s race. Arceneaux is seeking a second term.
The Caddo Democratic committee and state Republican Party also backed opposing candidates in several other races.
In the 1st Judicial District attorney race, the Democratic committee endorsed incumbent District Attorney James E. Stewart Sr. The state Republican Party previously endorsed state Sen. Alan Seabaugh, R-Shreveport. Libertarian Lauren Ray Anderson and Patricia Gilley, who has no party affiliation, also qualified for the race.
In Caddo Parish School Board District 10, the Democratic committee endorsed Michael LaFitte, while the state Republican Party endorsed incumbent Katie McLain. The two are the only candidates in the district.
The Democratic committee also endorsed Kenneth Coutee for School Board District 2, Karla A. McCullough for District 5, Cleveland Mouton III for District 6 and Larry Wilson for District 12.
For Shreveport City Council, the committee endorsed Tabatha Taylor in District A, Craig Lee in District B, Alan Jackson Jr. in District E, Billy Anderson in District F and Ursula Bowman in District G.
The committee endorsed Kharmen Davis-Taylor for Shreveport City Court, District II, Division D, and Treneisha Hill for district court judge in District F.
The committee also endorsed James E. Green for Public Service Commission District 5. Green, a Democrat and Shreveport City Council member, faces Republican Caddo Parish Commissioner John Atkins in the Nov. 3 general election. The state Republican Party endorsed Atkins in its 2026 endorsement list.
The Republican Party’s earlier Caddo endorsements also included Matt Shields for School Board District 4 and McLain for District 10.
