(The Center Square) — Three ordinances on the Shreveport City Council agenda concerned budget amendments for various 2025 budgets this week.

Ordinances 27, 30 and 33 all dealt with budget amendments for the 2025 year. While two passed, there is one left that cannot be adopted before June 10.

The council passed both Ordinance 27 amending the 2025 Community Development Special Revenue Budget and Ordinance 30 amending the 2025 Capital Improvements Budget.

Ordinance 33 cannot be adopted before June 10, but concerns amendments to the 2025 Capital Projects Fund Budget. The purpose of this budget amendment is the Choice Neighborhood Park.

According to the ordinance fact sheet, the state gave Shreveport additional State Capital Outlay funding totaling $150,000 for the project. The ordinance will allow the amendment to the budget to reflect the additional funding.

Ordinances 27 and 30 were up for final passage, and both passed with seven votes in favor.

The council approved amending the 2025 Community Development Special Revenue Fund budget to reflect the award amount the Louisiana Housing Corporation allocates from the Emergency Solutions Grant fund to Shreveport each year.

The report shows that in 2018, Shreveport received a $24.2 million Choice Neighborhoods Implementation grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. An additional $2.5 million was given to aid in completion of the Bayou Grande Housing development.

Ordinance 30 passed to amend the 2025 Capital Improvements Budget. This budget amendment will add $200,000 to the Airport Maintenance Equipment project by increasing Federal Aviation Administration funding by $235,000 and decreasing state funding by $35,000.

The funding source will also change for the terminal infrastructure project. Previously, it was 100% state-funded. Now it is 95% FAA-funded and 5% state-funded.
