Harlan’s journey began in an unexpected place: ushering at the Elitch Gardens Summer Stock Theatre in Denver during his teens. A pivotal turn soon followed when he became the personal assistant to legendary actress Shelley Winters. This early immersion into the world of entertainment set the stage for a lifetime dedicated to shaping narratives and supporting voices that matter.
Over the years, Boll has become a trusted figure behind many impactful projects. He has coordinated appearances for some of the world’s most beloved personalities, leveraging their fame to champion social causes. His production credits include the acclaimed documentaries Carol Channing: Larger than Life and Wait for Your Laugh, which pay homage to iconic performers and their contributions to culture.
In addition to these film projects, Boll has also produced Portraits of Life, With Love, co-founded the Ribbon of Hope Awards celebrating HIV/AIDS awareness in media, as well as produced and directed the Smithsonian’s Tribute to the Legendary Ladies of Stage and Screen. He also contributed to the Television Academy’s commemorative book The Best in Television: Fifty Years of Emmys, cementing his role in preserving entertainment history.
